As
you visit links, you may come across images and graphics you
want to use in your portfolio assignments or task force presentation.
Most online images and graphics are protected by copyright.
To use them, you need permission, especially if your use extends
beyond your classroom.
Look
for the e-mail link to the Webmaster on sites where your images
are located. Send an e-mail to the Webmaster asking for permission.
Make clear that you are a student and just plan to use the
image for classroom use. Once you have permission, here is
how to copy images you want to use.
- Put
your cursor directly on top of the graphic or image you
want to copy.
- Click
and hold down the right mouse button. A menu of options
will appear.
- Click
"Copy" if you plan to transfer the image directly
to a document. Place your cursor on the spot in the document
where you want to insert the image. Click the "paste"
button on your toolbox.
- If
you want to save the image for later use, select the option
"Save image as." A "Save as" window
appears. Indicate the location where you want to store the
graphic and hit "Save." This is just like saving
any other document.
- You
might want to create a file called "Graphics"
in which to save images and graphics.
- To
use the image, go to your word processing program, open
the document you want to work with, and follow the usual
procedure for inserting a graphic.
