Step 2-Introduce Roles
  • Divide the whole task force into five groups. Assign each group one of the five roles.

  • Gather into groups by roles. Open your role and review the description page. The role description provides important background, including what your position on the development project is and why you have that position. Each role is either in favor of, opposed to, or undecided about the development project. What is the position of your role?

  • Take time to read and discuss the quotes that appear on the role description page.

  • Choose a spokesperson from your group who will introduce your role at the next task force meeting.

  • Hold a second task force meeting for the purpose of introducing the five roles. Have group spokespersons introduce their role by either reading the role description page aloud or summarizing key points about the role.

  • Listen carefully as other roles are introduced. You want to learn where others stand on the development issue and why. Note what roles have the same position as your role and which roles are opposed to your position.

  • Review the assessment rubrics at this point so that you know how you will be evaluated for your work on this WebQuest.
