Resources
To
use Endangered Traditions, you will need:
- Computers
with Internet access
- (optional)
Some kind of media player software downloaded on computers as
some links require audio or video players for listening or viewing
(i.e., Windows
Media Player, RealPlayer,
or QuickTime)
- Printers,
preferably color
Here
are suggestions for how to utilize Endangered Traditions
if you have only one or a few computers with Internet access in
your classroom:
- Place
computers in easily accessible and supervised locations.
- Create
stations or multiple activities, using computers as only one of
the stations needed to complete assignments.
- All
students assuming a role work together on the same computer.
- Rotate
students from one station to another.
- Have
students print out articles and read them at their desk (toner
and paper are less expensive than additional computers).
- Print
pages from the links for each role ahead of time.
- Borrow
computers.
- Use
the school computer lab.
-
Have students do computer work on home computers.
If
you have computers in the classroom but no access to the Internet:
- Use
a program like Web Buddy or Web Whacker to download the web pages
from your home computer and then copy them from disk onto computers
at school.
