Juneteenth Celebrations

Juneteenth is a freedom celebration that is commemorated annually on June 19. African Americans see this celebration as a time to remember the hardships their ancestors endured along the way, while fighting for their freedom. The following pages include history of the electrifying celebration (page 2) and a narrative about the experiences a young woman faced during the days of slavery (page 3). We hope you enjoy learning more about the memories of the Underground Railroad, especially the Juneteenth celebration!
