Karen Regina
I'm the Manager of Education
Programs at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
and Coordinator of the TNT program. I have a long career in
education in both classroom and museum settings. I began by
teaching American History at Walnut Hills High School in
Cincinnati then moved to the Cincinnati Historical Society and
Cincinnati History Museum before joining the Freedom Center in
late 2000.
I've done a lot of writing in my
career and have authored several articles and publications for
schools. One project was a textbook on Cincinnati history that
is still used in local schools and won two major awards from
professional organizations in the museum and history fields.
In recent years, I've come to love
the charms and rituals of afternoon tea and like to host teas
in my home for friends and travel to tearooms in other
locations. My favorite tearoom is the historic Elmwood Inn in
Perryville, Kentucky. I've collected many lovely teapots,
teacups, and tea accouterments to use when I have tea parties.
Lately, I've been following the
rising career of young singer Josh Groban, whom I had a chance
to meet when he was in Cincinnati. I think he's destined to
become a major musical star. You'll often find me on Josh's
message board and in his fan's chat room!
I'm a bit of a homebody and love
to read fiction and watch quality dramas on TV. You won't
catch me watching a sit-com, though.
