FOOTSTEPS TO FREEDOM
Year Three of the Underground Railroad Project
The 2001 Critical Fusion Project was the final year of this pilot project. This year's participants included Miami University's Interactive Media Studies Center, the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, the Hughes Center (Cincinnati, Ohio), The Summit Country Day School (Cincinnati, Ohio), Trivantis Corporation, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. This year's project began in January 2001 and concluded in May 2001.
Four teams of students from the schools collaborated throughout the semester on researching, writing, and publishing their findings on-line. Topics included the life of a runaway slave, a tri-state map (Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky) of the Underground Railroad, and newspapers and religious institutions from the era.
