TNT is a program that pairs students from two secondary schools, an inner-city school and a more affluent suburban school, in working together over a semester to research history topics and develop a web site that showcases what they have learned about their local community's role in the Underground Railroad. Several organizations collaborate to produce the program, with each assuming a specific role and supplying personnel to staff the program. In general, a university, social service agency, and corporate sponsor join the host organization and the two schools in the program. It is an unusual alliance involving higher education, secondary education, businesses, and nonprofit agencies. The program began in 1999 as the Critical Fusion Project and is currently in its fourth year. Select a year (above the graphic) to view the work produced by the students in the program. © 2002 |
